It's been insane at work lately, so I haven't been able to read as much as I normally do. But with my trainee finally standing on her own wobbly, baby legs, I have some extra time at work to devour some wonderful books.
What I've Read Lately (non-BOTMs)
Safe & Sound by Lucy Lennox and Sloane Kennedy
As usual, this work by Lennox and Kennedy tugs at every single emotion possible in a short amount of time. In one moment you're gunning for the slow burn romance building between the two main characters, the next you're screaming in outrage, then you end up a sobbing mess while driving to work.
This is a story of overcoming tragedy, guilt, abuse, and learning to be strong for the sake of love. A damn good book and I highly recommend it.
His Roommate's Pleasure by Lana McGregor
So, I got on a bit of a sub-genre kick this past week and wanted to dive into the "cute and nervous virgin" territory. When I asked for recommendations, this was one of the first ones to pop up and it did not disappoint. The story is about a college student who discovers erotic BDSM pictures on his roommate's laptop and gets caught in the act. After both of them admitting to each other they liked it for different reasons, one being sub (submissive) minded and the other being dom (dominating), they decide to try it out together. McGregor was able to capture the trepidation of both guys while still keeping the sex scenes hot as hell.
Trust (Temptation Series #3) by Ella Frank
I've discussed this series before, but I was finally able to finish the 3rd installment in the series. I have fallen so helplessly in love with Tate and Logan's relationship that it's hard for me to not binge through all of these books at once. In this book in particular, there's some tragedy that strikes that I didn't expect, and it did a great job tugging at the heart strings. As always, Tate and Logan are steamy, fun and explosive, and I love seeing how they're growing as a couple.
Frank has book 6 coming out in January, so I plan on catching up before it launches.
Kidnapped by the Pirate by Keira Andrews
Remember when I said I was on a cute, nervous virgin kick? I'm about 40% through this book right now and cannot get enough of it. A story about Nathaniel, proper English lad, who's shanghaied by the notorious Captain Sea Hawk in a plot to get revenge on Nathaniel's father. Hawk was betrayed years ago by Nathaniel's father, ostracizing a once proud privateer as a no good pirate vagabond. Naturally, as Nathaniel and Hawk share close quarters together aboard the ship, sexual tension starts rising between them and giving me a serious case of the vapors.
So far, this book has been exciting and fun as hell. Pirate fights, quirky dialog and hot pirates. What's not to love?
What have you guys been reading? What would you recommend? We're always down to add more to our insane list of to-read books, so please feel free to share.
Don't forget, we got out BOTM episode launching on the 27th that has an interview with voice actor Kirt Graves. Make sure to check it out!
